MALCOY 8 has been deployed to Lebanon since July 2012 to relief MALCOY 7 peacekeeping force as part of Malaysia’s contribution to the UN chartered UNIFIL mission. (here)
Apart from its mandated peacekeeping missions there, the Malaysian troops also conduct Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) programme as part of its service to the local communities in Lebanon.
In January 2013, the MALCOY 8 engineering team, together with its counterpart from Spain Battalion has worked hand in hand to build proper drainage for the community at El-Miri. The cntingent’s medical team has also provide medical assistance to the Lebanese communities of Burghuz and El-Ahmadiya.
