The US and Malaysian Army formally conduct Ex Keris Strike 2012 at Ulu Tiram Camp in Johor. The 10 days exercise will involved computer based CPEX (command Post Exercise) at brigade and battalion level as well as medical civic action program (MCAP).
A total of 96 American soldiers as well 369 Malaysian counterpart will for the first time trained on Counter Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) exercise. IED is an apparent threat to both countries while operating in foreign country. The MAF which have troops deployed in countries where IEDs are in widespread use such as in Lebanon (MALBATT and MALCOY UNIFIL) and Afghanistan (MALCON-ISAF), sees this exercise as important in order to enable its troop to acquire knowledge and experience on handling such threats.
